Test Cricket Tours - West Indies to Australia 1992-93

Tour of Australia 1992-93       Captain: Richie Richardson

36th official Test tour

Tenth official Test-playing tour by West Indies to Australia

(October 1992 -  March 1993)

It was a thrilling even series, only the third Test at Sydney being played on an easy batting strip, a match illuminated by the innings of 277 that made Brian Lara’s name.

The two teams were closely-matched.  West Indies saved the first Test, lost at Melbourne, and were only two runs away from defeat at Adelaide before taking the series decisively at Perth. They won the final Test by an innings on a fast, bouncy pitch, Curtly Ambrose taking 7 wickets for 1 run in 32 deliveries to wreck Australia’s first innings.

West Indies also won the Benson & Hedges one-day World Series.

Patrick Patterson was not selected for any of the Tests or most of the other games after walking from the field at Brisbane without saying anything to his captain
