team, and Geoff Allott took his place.

team for India, plus
Allott, Astle and McMillan, flew out to Australia
on 11 September and spent two weeks in Darwin
playing six limited overs matches becoming acclimatised to hotter weather. On
26 September they returned to New
Zealand for a few days.
The touring party to India
and coach Glenn Turner left Auckland on 1
October and arrived in Bombay
on 2 October after an exhausting 30-hour journey. After three days of nets at
Brabourne Stadium, they left for Rajkot
on 6 October.
